You are so right on Michelle! Loved this. People place too much responsibility on something that’s meant to be a toy. I have even heard Barbie is racist because there are more white dolls than black.
As a kid, I had endless fun with Barbie. It didn’t matter to me that Barbie was not brown like me or that I didn’t have an hourglass figure like her. She never made me aspire to be an astronaut or the president. It was just about being lost in hours of endless pretend play.
Even when I see my daughter playing with Barbie today it’s all about the stories that she comes up with not how thin or perfect Barbie is.
If we want our kids to have good self-confidence and a positive body image, it falls on us the parents. So like you said, it’s time people stop blaming a doll!
