Thanks, George for all the great advice in this piece. Confidence at the workplace is such a must. I remember when I was back at work after 10 years of being a stay at home mom, I had very poor self-confidence. My resume was practically empty. It showed totally in the way I spoke and handled myself. Being introvert didn’t help either.

I even heard the coworkers in the next cubicle gossip about me having no confidence. That further destroyed my measly confidence. I was even ready to quit the job. I wallowed for a month in depression.

Then I decided to increase my job skills by joining college again while on the job. Learning diverted my attention from the bullies and the new knowledge I gained gave me the confidence I needed. My manager noticed I had upgraded my skills and offered me a higher position. This further helped my confidence. Now the bullies don’t have much to say.

I still am learning to be more assertive and to not be afraid of voicing my opinion.
